Reviews Jasper and Roach-Higgins (1985) term of “temporal authentication” – which “distinguishes how a group of people can reach back into its own cultural heritage to borrow elements of dress for contemporary adaptation” (375) – a reincarnation of a dress/costume.
Adds concept of “temporo-cultural authentication” – “when the designer of a dress reaches back through time as well as across cultural lines for ideas to incorporate into contemporary fashions” (376) —- would this be the notion of festival fashion?!
